Renovating in Whitby and Brooklin
Brooklin is part of the Town of Whitby, so renovations in both communities go through the Town's Building Services Division. Applications can be submitted through the Town's E-Portal, by email or in person. A cosmetic update and a project that changes walls, plumbing or heating don't follow the same path. We review your scope and explain what it may need.
If your home is in downtown Brooklin, the area is a designated heritage conservation district under the Ontario Heritage Act, which can matter if a project changes the outside of the house. We'll raise it at the site meeting if it applies. We serve homes across Whitby, from Port Whitby to Brooklin, as well as nearby Ajax and Oshawa.

Who will I be dealing with?
Oakridge is owner-led. Ben and John founded the company around a detailed, transparent and communicative way of renovating, and they stay involved in planning your project. You'll know who to call, and during business hours, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm, we reply personally within 15 minutes.
What kinds of renovations are the best fit?
We focus on basements, kitchens, bathrooms and whole-home projects where planning, trade coordination and careful finishing need to work together. If you're not sure whether your project fits, get in touch anyway. A short conversation about the space, your goals and your timing usually answers that question quickly.
My home is in downtown Brooklin. Does anything change?
Downtown Brooklin is a designated heritage conservation district, which can affect changes to the outside of a home. Interior work like a basement or kitchen is usually planned the same way as anywhere else in Whitby, but we'll check what applies to your address. Requirements depend on the scope and the property.
How are changes handled once work starts?
Any change you ask for is written up by email, with its effect on scope made clear, and you approve it before that work begins. If something unexpected turns up behind a wall, we explain it before related work goes ahead. You also get daily updates during active work, so the project never feels like a mystery.
