What happens at a free site meeting with Oakridge?
You tell us about your project, we reply personally and arrange a free site meeting at your property. We review the space, your priorities and visible conditions, then work toward a written proposal with the scope, price and allowances. There is no charge for the first meeting.
Step 1: You get in touch
You can call 289-731-2086, email info@oakridgeconstructiongroup.ca or use the form on our contact page. You do not need a finished plan. Tell us what you have in mind and where you would like to start.
During business hours, Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., we send a personal email reply within 15 minutes. Outside business hours, we follow up when we reopen.
Step 2: A quick conversation
Before the visit, we talk about your space, your priorities and your location. This helps us come prepared and make good use of your time.
Step 3: The free site meeting at your home
We meet you at the property. As our basement process page describes, we review dimensions, access, existing services and visible conditions. We talk about how you use your home, what you want to change and which rooms need to work together.
Bring your questions. We will point out anything that needs an on-site answer and explain what will affect cost, such as room size, site conditions, layout changes, finish selections and supporting trades.
Step 4: Design direction and scope
After the meeting, we work through the design direction and scope with you. Depending on the project, that can include a measured plan, material selections and visualizations, as our renovation process page explains.
Step 5: Your written proposal
Your estimate is specific to your home. The written proposal sets out the scope, price, allowances and exclusions, and who is responsible for what. Any permit services and fees are described in the scope. Before work begins, we review and confirm the details together.
The schedule is set once the scope, selections, approvals and trade requirements are known, and dates are agreed after the project review.
What to have ready
None of this is required, but it helps us prepare and gives you a more useful meeting.

- The property address and municipality

- Your ideal timing
- Up to 5 clear photos of the area (you can attach these to the contact form)

Common questions
Is the site meeting really free?
Yes. The first site meeting is free. We visit your property, review the space and talk through your goals. There is no charge for that first meeting. If you decide to go ahead, the written proposal will set out the scope, price, allowances and exclusions before any work starts.
How quickly will Oakridge reply?
During business hours, Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., we send a personal email reply within 15 minutes. If you reach out in the evening or on a weekend, we follow up when we reopen. You can also call us directly at 289-731-2086.
Do I need drawings or a finished plan before the meeting?
No. You do not need a finished plan. Tell us where you would like to start. Photos of the space, a rough budget range and your timing are helpful. If you have house plans or a survey, bring them out, but they are not required for the first meeting.

How much does it cost to finish a basement in Ontario?
There is no single price for finishing a basement. The size of the space, the finish level, whether you add a bathroom or bar, bedroom egress windows, moisture repairs and permits all move the number. Published ranges are a rough starting point only; a real price comes from a visit to your home and a written scope.
7 min readDo you need a permit to finish a basement?
In most cases, yes. Every municipality in our area lists basement finishing, new rooms, plumbing or structural changes as work that needs a building permit, and electrical work needs a separate ESA notification. Rules differ by municipality, so always confirm your project with the local building department before work starts.
